Stay desk
Nic Live
We review hotels the way a desk clears a brief: clear message, usable photos, rooms that still hold up after a late arrival. Casino floors stay back unless they change how you sleep.
See the shortlistStays that still photograph clean
CityCenter quiet towers, Portland and Seattle hotels, Strip properties with a casino downstairs, and a few East Coast resorts. Written as overnights. We care about check-in, noise, walks, and whether the room still looks honest in daylight.
Vdara Hotel & Spa
CityCenter hotel without a casino under the bed. Quiet suites, longer indoor walks, and an overnight that asks whether the rate buys sleep or just a calmer address.

The Nines
Downtown Portland hotel in a former department store. Historic bones, modern rooms, and street noise that still decides bedtime.
Hotel Lucerne
Capitol Hill stay with a smaller footprint. Walkability helps; thin walls and weekend sidewalks can rewrite the brief.
South Point
South Strip hotel with a casino on site. More space than Mid-Strip boxes if you book the right category and accept the drive.
Horseshoe Las Vegas
Center Strip rebrand. Tower choice and hallway traffic still matter more than the new signage.
Planet Hollywood
Mid-Strip hotel with a busy casino floor. Rooms can work if you pick a quieter stack and ignore the lobby show.
Hard Rock Hollywood
South Florida resort hotel. Pool decks and event nights rewrite late sleep more than the room brochure admits.
Turning Stone
Upstate New York resort sprawl. Wing choice and indoor walking distance matter more than the map pin.
Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland
Baltimore-area hotel with a casino attached. Useful for arena nights if the room recovers after the show.
Resorts Atlantic City
Boardwalk hotel with a casino. Ocean views help; weekend corridor noise still decides bedtime.
Why the room leads the brief
A hotel can sell atmosphere and still fail the overnight. We start with the room.
Press trips and personal travel both end the same way: you need sleep, a desk that works, and a photo that does not lie about the bed. We care whether check-in still works after dark, whether corridors stay quiet, and whether morning light makes the room look usable or just staged.
When a property includes a casino, we mention it if hallway traffic or elevators change. The review still leads with the stay. A few hundred words each. No fake scores.
How we pick places
We take hotels people already compare for real trips. Then we look at arrival friction, room noise, walk distances, and whether the rate still feels fair after fees. Some stays clear a PR brief on day one. Others only look good in the lobby.
